Build the brief
behind the design.
ORBIT: a futuristic architecture studio
Give visitors a sense of the studio’s work before asking them to enquire. Lead with one architectural image, use dark surfaces and silver type, then show the project and material decisions.
- Name the business and the next step. A studio needs visitors to explore a project; a product brand needs them to understand the collection.
- Pick an image with a job. ORBIT uses negative space for the headline. FORME shows the cuff’s reflective surface. VESPER repeats amber and warm light.
- Describe the page in order. Introduce the offer, show the details, then give the visitor a clear next action.
- Review at phone width. Check headline wrapping, image crops and navigation. Click through the finished page before you publish.
A free sample: the change request.
Every fix in the course is one message with five lines. Here is the one that turns the most common AI tell, three cards with icons, back into a designed section.
CHANGE REQUEST Page: Home Section: section 4, services overview What I see now: three cards with icons in circles and a shadow, all the same height, centred text What I want instead: three columns of plain text with an h3, one paragraph and a text link, a 1px muted rule above the row, left-aligned, no icons, no borders, no shadow Do not touch: the header, the hero, the copy, the colours, the fonts, anything on other pages How I will check: at 1280 the row has no boxes and no icons; at 390 the three columns stack with 40px between; the three links still go to /services Only make this change. Then tell me what files you changed and anything else you had to touch.
The first build prompt is the other half of the method: nine parts, every section of every page with its job, its layout, its exact copy and its image, and a never list of the twelve things an AI site does when nobody decides. Lesson 6 gives you the prompt that makes ChatGPT write it for you, and Morrow’s complete prompt to measure yours against.
